A while back I was playing around in Photoshop, and I decided to make an attempt at an invitation for our rehearsal and groom's dinner. I came up with a design that was fun and incorporated our wedding colors. The retro-inspired look gave the invites the casual feel we wanted to convey for the evening. We're jeans and t-shirts kind of folks, so for us, a casual dinner with our closest family and friends is exactly the way we would like to kick off our wedding events.

Even with all of the blurred text, you can see that my proof-reading skills did not exactly pay off. How good are your skills? Can you find the mistakes??
In designing the card, I used Creative Keepsake's Bowlarama font for the heading, and then plain old Georgia font was used for the text. The darker orange orbit pattern (that you can barely see) I created myself with a series of ovals, and the white (or nearly white) sunbursts are from the Circles Make Me Dizzy Brushes kit over at Two Peas in a Bucket. The pattern of colored dots at the bottom were all me.
The image below is a screen shot of the document I used for the mailing labels. I found the margins for the label sheets I was using in MS Word, and used them as guidelines to make sure the labels I created would print correctly. In the shot below you can see that I used a separate layer for each 2x4" label. This way I could hide the surrounding labels to ensure each address was placed correctly. On the left hand side is our return address, and the mail to address is in the larger text. I was (and still am) in love with the way these labels looked on the Chocolate #10 open end envelopes from Paper Source.
I was so proud of these invites, and I couldn't wait to mail them out to our wedding party (hence the stack of them all stamped and ready to go in the first photo above). Then, on Sunday I had a major light bulb moment. I told Mr. Y that it may be the most brilliant idea I've ever had, and when I told him what my idea was, I think he fell in love with me all over again. (That might be a slight exaggeration, but he did love the idea.) Needless to say, these invites hit the cutting room floor, and a new plan was immediately put into action. I'm not going to share the amazing new invites until we get them out to everyone. (Hopefully I'll get them from Vista Print soon!) In the meantime, I'll just give this little teaser...

They look great! I love the colors.
BTW, what's a groom's dinner?
The groom's dinner is basically the rehearsal dinner. Traditionaly, the bride's parents host the wedding, and groom's parents host the dinner following the wedding rehearsal (or at least that's what I'm told). I think it is suppose to reflect the groom (and his family) a little more than the actual wedding usually does. I also think I've heard that in the South, where groom's cakes are popular, the groom's cakes were originally purchased for this dinner.
I tend to switch back and forth between calling our's the rehearsal dinner and the groom's dinner.
